THE LEECH

a leech in the river
is insignificant

you mistake it as
nothing

it is hot and the
river is tempting

you put your best
foot forward

which the leech
likes

it sticks to your
skin and sucks

your blood and
it becomes too

fat and you dislike
it. It is hard to

remove a leech
on its magnificent

tooth, and slimy
body that slips

thru your fingers.
you put ash and

it leaves you like
a vampire to a

holy water or the
cross.

you are too stupid
to trust the river
and think that a
leech is nothing.
