FULL MOON ON TOP OF A CHAMPAGNE PALM'S TIP

tonight
i join them
praying for the dead
singing songs
and chanting
the long litanies

more than an hour
and i am carried with
the song
the sweet lamentations
the power of each word
in those prepared
prayers

i wake up to the
same reality however

the dead is dead
and we are wishing him
peace

as he begins
to enter the
Great Divide.
